BARGAINS GALORE LET’S MAKE A DEAL

Beautiful spirit, who doesn’t love a good deal, right?! Let’s Make A Deal and Bargains Galore take me back.

Let the hunt begin! I remember when Jones of New York was all the rave, and the Goose Creek Goodwill was new. Yes, I’m dating myself. I chose those two to mention because, I would go into the Goose Creek Goodwill, before thrifting became popular, and was perusing through the racks, and I spotted a pair of New Jones of New York Ladies Dress Pants, tags still on for $4.79. That may not seem like a big deal to you, but the price of those lined pants were $70! Did I mention that they were new?!

 

THE HUNT 

Since then, I have been hooked! Let me put out a disclaimer. I love going to thrift, and consignment shops to look for deals. The disclaimer is, if I purchase anything, Iit’s with a vision. And that vision is, LET’S MAKE A DEAL must be in great shape. For me that means, look new. Or, it’s a piece that I can repurpose and bring new life to LET’S MAKE A DEAL. A perfect example of new life is this table, after the vision has been perfected.

I could not locate the before picture of this table. I think I deleted it when I was discarding images from my gallery. Needless to say, it was a hot mess. It had so much varnish on it! Between my sander and elbow, LET’S MAKE A DEAL was labor intensive. And if you don’t know, I’m allergic to manual labor.

The brand was Pennsylvania House. It was known as a quality brand. As you can see, LET’S MAKE A DEAL came out nice and I made a pretty penny. If I’m not mistaken, it was one of my Goodwill finds from their Main Street store.

HOT SPOTS LET’S MAKE A DEAL

Sticking with the title of the blog and theme, I thought I’d share some of my hot spots with you. These places in the Lowcountry are great for different things. For example, when you go to a Goodwill, it’s like a department store in that it carries everything, whereas a Second Chance, may carry everything except furniture. Check them out at your leisure. You may be familiar with some, but I hope you take away some new shops from this post.  If you are not interested in going to the store, earn cashback online from a myriad of stores.  Go and get the deals!

THRIFT AND CONSIGNMENTS SHOPS LET’S MAKE A DEAL

Let’s start with Goodwill. They have several locations and so, here’s the my favorites:

Palmetto Goodwills in these locations. Remember, it’s all about the hunt.

From My House to Yours -This shop carries everything from furniture to clothing and everything in between. This shop often carries furniture from model homes.

Habitat for Humanity Restore – The majority of the items carried in these stores is furniture, appliances, tools, etc. Beside the furniture, some of the stores carry clothing, shoes, and everything else in between, too!

Second Chance Thrift – This hidden gem, is nestled off the beaten path. Clothing, and shoes is the majority of what occupies this space. All the ladies are really nice. They have a rewards program, too!

CLS Restore – I almost forgot about this gem as well. I went there looking for an old hymnal and ended up getting flower pots and ribbon. They have everything.

This is a few of my favorites to check out. I’m going to end the list here, because I don’t want to overwhelm you. I do have some other spots that I’ll list in another post. As the late Andy Rooney used to say, stay tuned for “The Rest of the Story.”

In business, you never know what’s going to be a hot item. Therefore, you have to constantly keep those creative juices flowing. Which, in some cases might cause you to pivot. That said, as I mentioned in a previous post, we’ve added handmade gift tags to our product assortment. And who would have thought, that cute mug tags would be a hit?!
