FRESH START
02/28/20253 THINGS FRONT AND CENTER
Beautiful Spirit, I vacillate back and forth with topics! Oftentimes my downloads come when walking. That said, I like sharing useful information and this post has to do with 3 Things Front and Center. Don’t worry, it’s an informative post. Let me know if you find it useful.
FIRST THING
Have you paid attention to prices in the grocery store? Let’s talk about eggs. The prices are ridiculous! I subscribe to a blog that shared the possibility of renting a chicken for eggs. Now that’s a good idea if the option is available to you and you eat a lot of eggs. After perusing the internet, it is a thing. It would be ideal if there were someone local doing this.
Question. After watching the video, I had this thought. Why are eggs all the same color when you purchase them? Hmm….
SECOND THING
Here is an important term we all need to know. If you are into implementing a healthy lifestyle, you’re probably already familiar with the term Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) and what it means. But just in case you’re not………..
THIRD THING
Since I mentioned GMOs as the Second Thing, I thought this one would be a nice segue. Saving money on groceries. Why? Because there may be something on this list you didn’t think about. And because we’re a solution oriented community, if there’s something you do that’s not listed, please share in the comments. Please and thank you.
Here are a ten ways to reduce your grocery bill:
1. Make a List & Stick To It
- Plan: Plan your meals for the week. This is so easy for us empty nesters.
- Make a list. I know this seems like a no-brainer. I’ll say less.
2. Use Coupons & Apps
- Couponing: Look for coupons either in newspapers, grocery store apps, or websites that offer discounts for specific products. I am a Harris Teeter fan. I love receiving their mailer with $10 off when you spend $50 or more. It comes in handy purchasing organic produce…
- Cashback & Rewards Apps: If you’re technologically inclined, this is a good one. I’ve used Rakuten in the past. Have you tried either of these? Apps like Ibotta, Rakuten, or store loyalty programs can help you earn cash back or get discounts on certain items.
3. Generic Or Store Brand
- Store brands often have the same ingredients as name-brand products but are much cheaper. Do the comparison.
4. Shop Sales & Bulk
- Buy items on sale or clearance. Stock up on non-perishable items when they’re discounted.
- For items you use frequently, buying in bulk can save you money in the long run.
5. Avoid Processed & Pre-Packaged Foods
- Pre-cut vegetables, pre-packaged snacks, and other processed foods often cost more. Buying whole ingredients and preparing meals yourself can save you a lot. This is a good one!
6. Shop Seasonally & Locally
- Fruits and vegetables that are in season tend to be cheaper and taste better. Consider shopping at farmers’ markets for fresh, locally grown produce. Or, you can plant your own!
- If certain fruits or veggies aren’t in season, opt for frozen varieties, which are often cheaper and last longer.
7. Shop the Right Store
- Consider shopping at discount stores or warehouse clubs (like Costco, Aldi, or Lidl) where prices are often lower than traditional grocery stores.
8. Don’t Shop When Hungry
- Shopping while hungry can lead to impulse buys. I am so guilty of this! Eat before you go to the store to stick to your list and avoid making unnecessary purchases.
9. Your Protein Choices
- Meat can be expensive, so try incorporating more affordable protein sources like beans, lentils, tofu, or eggs. I love me some 15 Bean soup with Cajun spices.
10. Freeze Leftovers & Extra Food
- If you make large batches of meals, freeze leftovers for later use. This right here……I’m the Queen of Leftovers!
Hopefully, you’ve found these tips, helpful, and you’ll start saving money on your grocery bills without sacrificing quality or nutrition!
STEAL OF THE DAY!
From here on out, I will be posting items that are for sale with the actual link for completing the sale attached. Once the item is sold, I will remove it from the post. Quantities are extremely limited!
As always, thanks for hanging out. Don’t forget to give me some feedback!
XOXO,
Coach G
