8 TOOLS TO CREATE YOUR VISION BOARD
Why do you need a vision board? It’s an opportunity to get what’s in your head out, and onto a source that you can visually see. There’s a sense of accountability when you can visualize your goals, dreams, and aspirations. It is also a way to celebrate when you achieve those goals. See how creative you can get with the tools listed below:
1. Board
- Corkboard: It’s an option that lets you pin or tack your images and quotes.
- Poster Board: If you’re into glue, this is another option Glue images, words, and other elements that speak to your vision for the year.
- Magnetic Board: This option lets you use cute magnets along with the images, quotes, etc.
2. Images and Visuals
- Magazine Cutouts: This part right here is so much fun! You get to cut out pictures that resonate with your dreams.
- Printed Images: Online is another source for pictures and illustrations that match your goals and dreams.
- Personal Photos: Use your own photos to help personalize the vision board.
- Stickers: Let your creativity loose by using stickers as visuals that match your aspirations.
3. Words and Affirmations
- Quotes: Choose your favorite Inspirational or motivational quotes that align with your goals.
- Personal Mantras: If you don’t want to use someone else’s, write your own affirmations or short, powerful statements.
- Words Cutouts: I’ve done this in the past. Cut out words or phrases that align with your vision. Skirt Magazine used to have some good ones.
4. Crafting Materials
- Markers/Pens: Let the child in you come alive! Write write your own words, notes, or doodles with markers and pens in fun colors.
- Glue/Double-sided Tape: Here you may want to consider pushpins as well. This is for attaching to your desired board.
- Washi Tape: Tape is great for adding colorful accents or borders.
- Scissors: To cut images, words, or other materials neatly.
- Decorative Items: The sky’s the limit! Glitter, fabric swatches, beads, or ribbons to add texture and dimension. Think outside the box!
5. Color Scheme
- Color Coordination: What’s your theme? Use a cohesive color palette to enhance the visual appeal and keep the board organized.
- Mood Board Style: Mixing colors based on the feelings or vibes you want to manifest (e.g., calming blues, energizing yellows).
6. Themes
- Categories: Segment your board into sections, such as personal growth, career, relationships, health, finances, etc.
- Timeline: Organize your board to reflect short-term and long-term goals. It’s not a goal unless it has a date!
- Symbolic Items: Use symbols or representations (e.g., a dollar sign for financial goals or a heart for relationship goals).
7. Digital Vision Boards
- Apps and Tools: You can create a digital vision board using platforms like Canva, Pinterest, or other graphic design tools. I did this for my phone.
- Pinterest Boards: A virtual version where you can collect and organize pins of inspiration. The possibilities………
8. Additional Items
- Personalized Elements: Make your board special with handwritten letters, special mementos, charms or trinkets, to give your board extra meaning.
- 3D Elements: Add dimension with fabric to bring texture.
